The Iowa Chapter of the NRHS has been the sole NRHS presence in the state of Iowa since 1953. While the Chapter hosted numerous excursions in the first decade of existence, the focus of the Iowa Chapter has been the preservation of railroad history in the Hawkeye State. Chapter activities include an annual trip on the Boone & Scenic Valley railroad and at the Old Thresher’s electric operation in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, plus occasional trips to gather and watch trains in the state.
