Washington DC

Washington, D.C. Chapter (DCNRHS) is the progressive NRHS Chapter that "does things," providing members an opportunity to learn, have fun on trips and at Chapter activities, and to volunteer and participate in enjoyable initiatives such as National Train Day. DCNRHS operates a fully restored 1923 Pullman sleeper-lounge Dover Harbor (www.doverharbor.com) on trips all over the USA giving you a chance to ride vintage equipment on mainlines or volunteer as crew or on restoration efforts. DCNRHS operates a 1949 Budd-Company coach Franklin Inn in excursion and charter service nationwide and a railroad library that is open to the public six days a week in a former railroad switch tower in Bowie, Maryland. Members receive our monthly newsletter The Timetable, which provides information on upcoming activities, current events, and history focused articles, as well as discounts on DCNRHS trips and opportunities to attend exclusive members only events. Monthly railroad seminars with presentations and speakers on a wide array of current-day and historic railroading topics are also held in addition to a variety of tours to roundhouses, tourist and excursion railroads, stations, and other points of interest. DCNRHS also awards annually a scholarship to RailCamp to a Senior High Student.
