Railfans' Corner

Western Maryland Scenic Railroad began this year's season on the weekend of May 5th and 6th, which is a few weeks earlier than previous years. The excursion trains to Frostburg were well patronized both days on this weekend. This photo was taken as the WM Scenic's 2-8-0 No. 734 was pulling into the Cumberland, Maryland station on May 6th for boarding. Photo by Alex Mayes.

History: Western Maryland Scenic runs over the former right-of-way of the Western Maryland Railway (later B&O then Chessie System, then CSX) between Cumberland and Frostburg, Maryland. The track is now owned by the State of Maryland.
