They are stuffed in envelopes with the railroad ID, so a lot of detective work is required to ID the location and date. He did a lot of photo work at Bellevue, Ohio, Marion, Ohio, and Detroit, Michigan, where there were hi-density rail traffic. In this photo, I searched GE Water tower in either Ohio town and came up with Bellevue, where GE had a manufacturing plant that made specialized film projector bulbs. These engines were purchased after 1965 so the date of 1967 was given as the U boat was delivered circa 1966. EDITOR Mitch Dakelman note
