According to Mr. Bowman's notes " ..extends from Newport News, Va. -- 12 miles (11 miles car ferry, 1 mile track), dock in background in irregular use. No 6 built by Alco-Cooke i 1924 for Knox RR in Maine. Sold to US Navy in 1939 and sold to Smithfield in 1948 when operations began.
