The Officers and the Board of Directors of the NRHS have decided that due to the unpredictable situation which the Covid-19 virus has created, the 2020 NRHS Convention has been cancelled.

The 2019 Convention, held in Salt Lake City, is now history. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped make it happen, and to all who attended!

Convention events for the 2020 Convention schedule are still in the planning stage. The dates are now confirmed. They are Monday, June 8th through Saturday, June 13th, 2020.

The 2020 convention hotel will be the Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel. The rate will be $119 per night plus tax.

The NRHS Officers have reviewed the current situation concerning travel, meetings and the coronavirus (COVID-19). It has been decided that no events will be held for the 2020 Spring Conference. The Officers of the NRHS consider our members health to be extremely important and that gathering for this Conference could be risky and would not be recommended.

The U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention is urging
everyone to defer travel.

The National Railway Historical Society
(NRHS) has announced nine recipients of its annual Heritage Grants
Program. The 2019 heritage grant awards total $48,000. The recipients
are not for profit organizations, including historical societies,
museums, and a NRHS Chapter.

This year’s grants were awarded to
the following recipients:

$8,000 to the Oregon Rail Heritage
Foundation in Portland, Oregon towards the refurbishment and
installation at its Rail Heritage Center of a 102’ continuous
turntable,

Effective 01 August 2019, NRHS has a new Chairperson for the Heritage Grants Committee. Mr. Charles “Charlie” Webb has agreed to lead this program following the untimely death of Robert Kornreich.

Charlie joined NRHS in 1986 and is currently a member of the Harrisburg Chapter. He is a member of the NRHS Board of Directors, as one of the two directors from District 2.

Please welcome Charlie to his new and critically important role in NRHS.
