The NRHS Officers have reviewed the current situation concerning travel, meetings and the coronavirus (COVID-19). It has been decided that no events will be held for the 2020 Spring Conference. The Officers of the NRHS consider our members health to be extremely important and that gathering for this Conference could be risky and would not be recommended.

The U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention is urging everyone to defer travel.

A recent Medicare.gov release reads:

“According to the CDC, older adults and people who have severe chronic medical conditions like heart, lung or kidney disease are at a higher risk of serious illness if they contract the COVID-19 virus. This means that most people with Medicare are at a higher risk.

Your health, safety, and welfare is our highest priority. In addition to practicing good everyday prevention through things such as hand washing and avoiding touching your face, the CDC says there is more you can do to take precautions against COVID-19 and reduce your risk of exposure:

  • Avoid crowds, especially in poorly ventilated spaces with limited air circulation.
  • Defer all cruise ship travel worldwide, particularly if you also have underlying health issues.
  • Avoid situations that put you at increased risk, including non-essential travel such as long plane trips. “

IMPORTANT – If you made a reservation at the Marriott Cincinnati North Hotel you are responsible to cancel your room reservation before the deadline. Contact Marriott at 1-800-228-9290 or 1-513-874-7335.

The Cincinnati Chapter, NRHS, who is the host for the Conference, will issue a refund for the events to all registrants.  Because of financial obligations for some of the events, the registration fee will not be part of the refund. We hope you understand that the Cincinnati Chapter has been planning this Conference for over a year and was looking forward to hosting the group. The Chapter took on this Conference in good faith and is disappointed that the events it planned will not be held. However, the Chapter also understands the risk concerning the spread of the coronavirus and agrees with the decision made by the NRHS.

Thank you for your support and understanding,

Al Weber

President, NRHS
