Railroading in Northeastern Pennsylvania is honored by the Lackawanna & Wyoming Valley Chapter, NRHS. From the first movement of the “Stourbridge Lion,” in Honesdale, Pa. to today’s current railroads, the stories, legends and photos of our region are enjoyed at meetings of the chapter. Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at the Petro Truck Stop meeting room in Avoca, Pa. at 7:30 PM. Exceptions are July with no meeting and the annual chapter picnic at the train station in Moscow, Pa. Other activities include the fund raising and restoration of Boston & Maine Railroad 4-6-2 No. 3713 at Steamtown National Historic Site. Our annual chapter calendar preserves and distributes images of rail scenes of the past, and is our biggest promotional tool. Preserving the condition of the Moscow station has become a large project in recent years. The chapter is active in many other community activities.
