Visitor, Volunteer and Board Meeting Information

Museum and Train Ride Visitor Schedule: Our operating season is April to December each year. We are only open to visitors on days we offer train rides to the public. Generally one Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday each month. Please see our operating schedule on our website. We release our annual schedule usually in late February. The schedule for our Halloween and Santa trains is released in late July. On train ride days all of our exhibit rail cars, museum and gift shop car, garden railroad, and other facilities including restrooms are open. We also often have a food truck and/or brewery on site for some weekend train ride days, too. As many of our trains sell out, we recommend purchasing tickets in advance on our website. We are also one of the few places in the USA where you can experience running a real locomotive with one of our engineers supervising. We call this our Operate A Loco program. See our website for more details. Our parking lot and ticket office are located at 3900 Bonsal Rd, New Hill, NC. As we do not have volunteer staff on site every day, we discourage visitors coming to our museum and rail yard except on days we are open and offering train rides.

Member Volunteer Work Schedule: Every Wednesday (ex holidays) 9 am to 1 pm or later, weather permitting. Members receive announcements for other weekend special project work days as scheduled. Park at and stop by our yard office located at 5121 Daisey St, New Hill NC. (Note: No train ride day parking is available on Daisey St.)

Board Meetings: 3rd Thursday each month, 6-8 pm OFFSITE at the New Hill Community Center, 3101 New Hill Holleman Rd., New Hill, NC 27562. Our board meetings are open to all members and the public. We do not provide presentations, slide shows, or other programs at our board meetings.
